Marvel Legends Showdown Ghost Rider

Well, I’ve been a Marvel Comics fan for a long time, and that long time includes the infamous 90’s. A time of gimmick covers, polybags, and massive sales of books, which in turn practically caused the collapse of the comic industry. And as someone who collected comics in the 90’s, you couldn’t help but be exposed to Ghost Rider, possibly one of the more over-exposed heroes of the time (aside from Wolverine, of course). I actually loved Ghost Rider at the time…dark and gritty art and stories to go along with it. Great design schemes, a dark and nasty anti-hero. For a kid in his mid to late teens, it was great, but it also got old pretty quick. I gotta say, though, that this figure represents the character pretty well and looks pretty neat over all.

You simply cannot have an effective Ghost Rider without a nicely sculpted flaming skull. This one is pretty darn nice, I have to say. The skull itself seems pretty small, but the semi-translucent flames swirling up over the bone surface is a very cool effect and it makes Ghost Rider look pretty neat.

The body works pretty well, too, with the standard Super Hero Showdown articulation. His shoulder joints work really well, letting the figure actually cross his arms and maintain some very realistic poses. The weathering on the figure comes across very effectively, and overall the figure just looks nice.

These days, I’m not such a big Ghost Rider fan, but I do like this figure. I do wish he came with a motorcycle (and it looks in Series 3, he just might be according to Big Bad Toy Store’s pre-order list). Beyond this issue, though, I think the figure is fun and looks pretty nice.
