Will the real Operation: HISS Webisode 2 please stand up?

Yeah, looks like someone at MonkeyBarTV got a little tipsy the night before work last Friday…  what was being advertised as Episode 2 of Operation: HISS was likely Episode 3, and has now been pulled.  However, the real Episode 2 is now online, featuring some arctic action.  We see Timber, a little cameo from Snow Job, and hear some thick Scottish juice straight from Destro.
Check out the episode here, and some gratuitous screenshots below.

If it wasn’t already obvious enough, looking at this one, it’s pretty clear that Hasbro is taking full advantage of the 3d models from the video game.  I mean, these designs look nearly identical…

Target Exclusive "Past and Present" Rockslide 2-Pack reviewed

So I haven’t really jumped all over the Past and Present idea…I mean, I absolutely love the concept, but there’s only so much Hasbro can do with it, and honestly, I didn’t think they started off very strongly with the Rockslide 2-pack.  I’ve already got two Rise of Cobra Rockslides, and I’ve got plenty of vintage Snow Jobs and Battle Bears, with no real desire to drop money for more.
Thankfully, GeneralsJoes contributor Mysterious Stranger doesn’t agree, he picked up a set, and was awesome enough to submit a review!  You can check it out on the Rise of Cobra Reviews Page, or just hit it directly right here.
Just another one I owe him…

Quick review of Operation: HISS Webisode #1

Heh…in the last post I mentioned a month was a long time to wait for a follow up to a 5 minute webisode.  Turns out, the action itself only took just over 3 minutes.  Overall impression?  About what you’d expect for a direct-to-website feature catered to kids.  It’s done in CGI animation, purely computer models, and they looked like they were pulled from the cut scenes of the console game (which isn’t necessarily a good thing).  Some choppy animation, some stilted voice acting, and nothing that will really make the long time fans go crazy.  Definitely not G.I. Joe’s best side.
I still kinda dig seeing the movie universe further explored (especially since it would appear it’s vanishing entirely from store shelves with this G.I. Joe “reboot” this fall), but the end result did not blow my skirt up, which is really saying something when coming from this fanboy.  Regardless, I’ll be waiting the first Friday of every month just to see what’s next.
On the positive side, we did get some cool intel when the credits rolled!  I’ve mirrored some screen shots below, including a shot of the voice credits, which indicate that some other characters will be appearing in the series like Recondo, Helix, and Snow Job!  I’ll check out further installments just for that.
A fun way to spend a few minutes, but don’t expect Beast Wars or Starship Troopers…  the gallery is below.

Pursuit of Cobra Pre-Production Snow Job reviewed!!

Big props to regular contributor Mysterious Stranger, who has come through nicely to fill a little hole in my Pursuit of Cobra Pre-Production review page.  To this point I hadn’t yet picked up the Arctic Threat Snow Job figure, just because I couldn’t quite figure out if I needed it early or not.  The more I see of it, the more I’m convinced I probably do.  I’ll wait until I get a closer look at it during Toy Fair to make my final judgement.
At any rate, Mysterious Stranger got his hands on one and was cool enough to do up a very nice review for me, and it’s posted right here!

More Pursuit of Cobra Snow Job images online… holy shnikes!

Trust me, it takes a lot for me to bust out the Chris Farley terminology…  you know, I don’t even really like the Snow Job figure, except that I LOVE this Snow Job figure!  Holy crap!  I’m definitely not one for arctic themed guys, especially ones that are more or less repaints of the Arctic Snake Eyes, but damn…that new head sculpt, great paint apps, and absolutely INSANE gear have just sold me.  I mean, we’ve seen the gear before, but setting up that tent?  That is pure coolness.  That nasty sniper rifle certainly helps as well.

Yeah, it’s an arctic figure, and a character that doesn’t especially enthrall me, but the overall presentation is pure sickness.  Thanks to ceraurus of HissTank.com for just costing me more money.
