Sideshow Collectibles Reveals SDCC Exclusive Lt. Falcon!

Well, I think this certainly took folks by surprise!  Sideshow Collectibles announced their San Diego ComicCon Exclusive today, and it’s none other than that “gold-plated goof off, Lieutenant Falcon”!

Thankfully, Sideshow went with much less of the “goof off” version and much more the bad ass real-world Green Beret military look.  Sporting some fantastic tiger stripe camouflage, a great head sculpt, and the awesome gear we’re used to, Sideshow is giving us a terrific addition to the G.I. Joe roster here.  Sure, there aren’t many new parts, but the combination is outstanding.

The preview arrived via the latest Sideshow Collectibles newsletter, and I’ve mirrored the image below as well.  Good stuff, and thanks to Mysterious Stranger for the information.

San Diego ComicCon Exclusive Constructicon B.A.T. and Destro in hand images

It’s been a busy week for Gyre-Viper, and he’s not letting up, even on a Friday!

Over on JoeDeclassified.com he has posted images of the upcoming San Diego ComicCon exclusive Constructicon B.A.T. and Destro, the driver of the upcoming Shockwave HISS tank!  The HISS itself (initially revealed at Toy Fair, but not shown in the images below) looks like a very cool and fun variation of the regular Retaliation HISS Tank, and the two figures slated to come with it look like a lot of fun.

The B.A.T. has the color scheme from the Constructicons, which is an awesome touch.  Destro himself is a repaint of the City Strike Destro tweaked looking City Strike Destro using PoC Dusty and Techno-Viper parts, and just looks like an awesome figure.  Check out the mirrored images below and a huge thanks to Gyre-Viper for the heads up!

I mean, look at that.  IT’S SO GREEN.  And SO PURPLE.  GREEN AND PURPLE.

One of the lead writers for G.I. Joe Renegades is… holy crap!

Well, not holy crap because of his name, because it’s pretty likely you’ve never heard of him before.  I know I hadn’t.  But if you’re a self-respecting geek, you’ve no doubt seen some of his work.  His name is Henry Gilroy, and the guys at the Terror Drome confirmed at SDCC that he is one of the lead writers for G.I. Joe: Renegades.
So why is this important?  Why is it a “Holy Crap” moment?  Check out his resume:

  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars Animated Series (Writer)
  • The Secret Saturdays
  • Transformers: Animated (The Sound and the Fury)
  • Bionicle
  • The Tick
  • The Adventures of Batman and Robin
  • Batman: The Animated Series

Uhhh yeah.  I think Renegades is in pretty good hands.  As I’ve already covered in this post, we’ve got some very experienced veterans involved here, and experienced veterans with a great background.  Some of the folks who worked on some of the greatest animated series in the past 15 years now have their hands in G.I. Joe, and I think that can only be a good thing.  I can understand how some of the art and character designs might be a turn off to the adult Joe fan, but I still think we need to give the actual content a try before we prepare to write it off.

GeneralsJoes Reviews the SDCC Sgt. Slaughter Figures!

The GeneralsJoes July Review-A-Rama continues on strong thanks to Hasbro’s Public Relations team…  A nice surprise package in the mail late last week provided me with the two San Diego ComicCon Exclusive Sgt. Slaughters that are hitting lucky collectors this weekend at ComicCon.
I’ve reviewed them both and for lack of a better place, linked the review on the Pursuit of Cobra page.  You can, of course, also check it out here.

Hasbro's SDCC Exclusives featured on G4's Attack of the Show!

When Hunter PR rep Joe Moscone reported on his Twitter page last night that Hasbro’s SDCC exclusives would be featured on Attack of the Show, I was hoping the video would show up online since I don’t get G4 with my local cable package.  Thankfully g4tv.com came through!
They visited Hasbro’s Rhode Island headquarters and give us the scoop on the wide array of goodies Hasbro will have available at SDCC…and yes, the Sarge is front and center.  Check out the embedded video below.
