The Pursuit of Cobra HISS Tank blows my mind

Why?  Why did it take so long to get this idea right?  And why, right when the G.I. Joe design team is absolutely kicking ass, will we be migrating back over to yet another G.I. Joe theme with G.I. Joe: Renegades in 2011?
I mean, seriously.  The Pursuit of Cobra is like the essence of everything that is awesome about G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.  Real world, gritty military action, mixed with futuristic science fiction, yet fantasy that’s not too separated from the realm of reality.  It’s nearly a perfect mixture of military and fantasy.  I know we’ve already seen a healthy helping of images of the upcoming Cobra HISS Tank from the Pursuit of Cobra line, but for some reason these new images from AC Toys just make me all the giddier about it.  The sleek, armored “speedster” look, the fully multifunction upper body with the multitude of cannon turrets and twin canopies.  This thing is INSANE.
I’m not a huge fan of the brown, and that HISS Driver does absolutely nothing for me, but the vehicle itself is one of the coolest toys I’ve seen in a long, long time.

Pursuit of Cobra HISS and Mech Images posted online

Yes, I’m still in the midst of convention decompressing and gathering information together to get posted, but I just had to get this nugget out there, since I think a lot of fans will love checking out these images.
Gyre-Viper of HissTank.com posted a metric ton of pictures of recently acquired HISS Tank as well as both the G.I. Joe and Cobra Mech Suits for the upcoming Pursuit of Cobra line.  Yes, they are as sick as you think they are, especially that HISS.  Amazing stuff.  The thread can be found here, and I’ve mirrored nearly three dozen pics below as well.
In an effort to tie this back in to the convention, too, I did want to just take a minute and say one of the highlights of the Con for me was getting a chance to meet and interact with Gyre-Viper as he prowled the sales floor or the hallways of the hotel.  I’ve seen my fair share of fans from all walks of life, and many of those fans I run into who buy the pre-production items have a craving to be “first”, to wear it like some sort of badge of honor.  But Gyre-Viper has a palpable thirst for knowledge, an amazing respect for the G.I. Joe brand, and a healthy desire to see G.I. Joe succeed, which drives him to collect the way he does.  He obviously has a deep appreciation for what the toys are all about now, but he also is extremely fascinated with how the production process happens, and with the history of G.I. Joe over the past twenty-eight years.
It was a blast meeting with him and shooting the breeze for a little while, and it always excites me when someone who hasn’t been around all that long can motivate other folks to get excited for the product, and who has an obvious energy himself.
Gyre-Viper, you da man!  Keep it up, bud.

Another picture of the mystery HISS Tank on ACToys…

The plot thickens…

Recently a few images of a mysterious chrome plated HISS Tank had sprouted up on ACToys.net.  Initially thought to be a custom, we now have another image posted which would certainly seem to indicate these are at least at some level of production.

Granted, these could still be customs, just somehow produced on a larger scale…  just seems interesting.  Time will tell.  Check out the thread here.  Thanks as usual to HissCommander of The Terror Drome for the heads up.

Updated info from latest Nintendo Power magazine

Thanks to Shin Densetsu of HissTank.com for providing a lot more information about the upcoming Rise of COBRA video game.  The latest issue of Nintendo Power apparently has some more details that we hadn’t previously been aware of.

Click here to see the full details of what he had to say, including mention of characters like Night Creepers, Stalker, Red Ninjas, and B.A.T.’s.  Also mentioned are the vehicles Crimson Attack Tank, Flight Pod, HISS Tank and Snowcat.

Keep in mind I also had a pretty exhaustive rundown here on GeneralsJoes with all of the different information taken from the Toy Fair demo.
