Also note about Convention hotel.  The block has filled on some nights.   The hotel is watching and will add rooms as long as they can to the nights that have run out.  Please let us know if you have any issues.  We should be able to accommodate everyone at the Marriott.

Thanks for your support!

Like Big Brawler and Dial Tone, the Club used the 2003 Toys “R” Us Tiger Force set as an inspiration for Stalker, and I’m glad to say, this time the execution was pretty spectacular.

I do feel the need to say up front that I would have loved Stalker even more if they’d went with the blue and orange, but even as is, this update is really well done.

Using a combination of G.I. Joe: Retaliation parts, with arms from the G.I. Joe Trooper and legs from Ultimate Duke, Stalker has a really nice look and feel, with detailed sculpting etched into his baggy uniform, which manages to maintain a great sense of articulation mixed among all the wrinkles and design aesthetics. I really love those G.I. Joe Trooper arms especially, with the wrapped wrist devices and range of motion in the elbows. Little touches like the tactical holster on the right leg also make a huge difference, and Stalker ends up looking awesomely military even as he runs around in yellow tiger stripes.

Of course its the new head sculpt that really sets him apart. Boss Fight Studio turns in another remarkable work of art with a great rendition of Stalker, featuring a great looking open-mouth sneer and a head that nearly perfectly fits the existing beret. Not only does the head look great, but doing it without a beret gives the Club future flexibility to add other headgear to it (like a knit cap perhaps?).

From the next generation parts choices to the great new head sculpt, immediately Stalker stands apart from many other figures in this set. The color scheme helps, too. With a black jacket, similar to his Talking Battle Commander version, Stalker has just the right trim of yellow throughout his uniform, on his wrists and on the beret. His legs have a terrific tiger stripe pattern of yellow and black, managing to fit the theme really well, while calling back to previous iterations of the character.

Accessories

I’ve already mentioned the removable beret, but Stalker also has the great G.I. Joe: Retaliation Snake Eyes webgear in the awesome shade of green that I love. His backpack is the Pursuit of Cobra Snow Job one with a removable phone and antenna, as well as a hole to hook his large machine gun into. Yes, Stalker also comes with the mammoth machine gun that Retaliation Roadblock came with, which disassembles into several smaller parts. Of course he also comes with a pistol for his holster and a machine gun as well.

Stalker is the whole package. As the Convention Tiger Force team leader, he has a fantastic new head sculpt, a great build, and some really fun accessories. He’s a great addition to the Tiger Force team and excellent Convention figure.

Summary

Like Dial Tone and Big Brawler, Sgt. Stalker comes from the Toys “R” Us 6 Pack, and where the other two had some shortcomings, Stalker succeeds. A great new head sculpt by Boss Fight Studio, some excellent modernized parts choices, a really exciting new deco, and an impressive allotment of accessories brings to life an exceptionally nice Tiger Force update.

First Collectors’ Club FSS shipment likely delayed by West Coast dock strike

We were this close.  THIS close to finally getting some new G.I. Joe product in 2012, but according to an email from the G.I. Joe Collectors Club, it’s looking like the first installment of the Figure Subscription Service may not reach subscribers until shortly after the Christmas holiday.

Apparently there is a dock strike which is impacting the quickness of product being distributed.  The full context of the e-mail is below:

“Hello everyone,

Our latest update is not a happy one.  Many of you may not be aware that there is a labor strike going on by the west coast ports clerical workers.  This is now going to impact our delivery of the first FSS set.  Currently they have been striking a week, and this is the latest from our shipper:

ILWU OCU Local 63 Update – Ports of Los Angeles / Long Beach

As of this morning it is expected that the first shift in the LA / LGB will continue to picket the terminals affected by the strike.  Talks between the two sides ended Saturday night at 10PM PST without a resolution.  Talks resumed yesterday at 10am PST and are ongoing around the clock.  Presiding the talks are local mediators and Los Angeles Mayor Villaigosa.  The offer submitted by the HEA (Harbor Employer Association) is still being reviewed and is offering the 600 clerical workers a compensation package of USD 190,000 – USD 35,000 more than the present package.

###

It is our understanding that this strike is costing the country over a billion dollars in lost revenue each day.  I suggest that you contact your senators and congressman and ask them to do something as this could really impact everyone’s Christmas, not just our shipment.

Originally our ship was scheduled to dock on Sunday, Dec 2, they have slowed down and are scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday, December 5 but….even if they get to dock, there is now a week’s backlog on the docks that is not moving so, the likelihood that we will even receive the shipment by Christmas is slim.

Our plan is to turn the shipment and get it out to you as soon as we receive it.  This should NOT impact future FSS shipments as even if we have to ship two sets in January, we are not planning on changing the timing of the future shipments.  It may be that the first two come really close together.

I will keep you updated as we get information from our shipper.

Thanks for your patience,

Brian”

Fingers crossed that these start distribution as quickly after Christmas as possible…I’m glad they’re hoping to make up for it with two potential shipments in January.  Gotsta get my hands on these.

Thanks to the GIJoe Collectors Club for the info.

Further proof that Darklon is one of the G.I. Joe Con attendee exclusives

A small error in the production of JoeCustoms member bithomas’ figure set has revealed that Darklon is most assuredly one of the as-yet-to-be-revealed G.I. Joe Convention exclusive figures, most likely part of the IG Ground Assault 2-Pack.

JoeCustoms member bithomas accidentally received the filecard for Darklon in his 15 figure boxed set.  If these filecards were produced, then that can only prove that Darklon is certainly involved somewhere.  Check out the mirrored image below, again from JoeCustoms.com:

First look at G.I. Joe: Retaliation Cobra Commander figure in package at GIJoeClub

Along with the good news about the store software and membership deadline extension, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club also posted a nice little snippet on GIJoeClub.com!  While we did see some packaged mock ups at Toy Fair this year, this is the first time we’re seeing a packaged sample of Cobra Commander on the G.I. Joe: Retaliation card.

I’ve posted a small thumbnail below, but definitely hit up GIJoeClub.com for the full image!
