What’s on Joe Mind Special Edition #26 – London Premiere and Jon Chu Interview!

As I mentioned in the GeneralsJoes post of the interview with G.I. Joe: Retaliation Director Jon M. Chu, there would be some accompanying audio… and here it is!

What’s On Joe Mind, “live” from the red carpet in London, our representatives Dave Tree (from Roll Out Roll Call and All the Cool Stuff) and Russell Sheath (contributor to Aint It Cool News) talk to DJ Cotrona, Elodie Yung, cover the Press Conference and sit down with Director Jon M. Chu himself!

An exclusive and intimate talk with the G.I. Joe: Retaliation director reveals some cool details about a potential directors’ cut of the DVD and possible content that was not in the final cut of the G.I. Joe: Retaliation film!  This thrilling special edition is live now on Podbean as well as embedded below.

SHOW NOTES

As of late, when most of us think of Retaliation and the color red, we think of how much of a knock out Adrianne Palicki looks in that red dress she is seen wearing in the trailers.  Well, red means something else when it comes to worldwide premiere’s of movies, it means the RED CARPET.  We Paramount UK afforded an opportunity for our man in the UK, Dave Tree, to attend the premiere and get a spot on the side of the carpet, we couldn’t pass it up.  Throw in an exclusive interview with Director Jon M. Chu, and it is a DONE DEAL!  WOJM is red carpet bound.  Check this show out as Justin and Gary comment on the movie and interviews, all the while throwing coverage back to London for updates from the premiere party.  Music, ninjas and celebs abound!  This is a CAN’T MISS special – once in a lifetime – edition of WOJM!

GeneralsJoes and WOJM Interview with G.I. Joe: Retaliation Director Jon Chu

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is right around the corner…  only mere days away!  The lucky folks over in London actually got their red carpet premiere last week, and both GeneralsJoes and the What’s on Joe Mind podcast were fortunate enough to have some representatives at the London premiere.

Dave Tree from All the Cool Stuff and Russ Sheath, contributor to Aint It Cool News both very kindly offered to cover the event on our behalf, and they knocked the ball out of the friggen park!  Hitting the red carpet, recording the press conference, and even getting a face-to-face interview with director Jon M Chu!

Most of the audio coverage from the red carpet and press conference event is now posted in audio format on Special Edition #26 of What’s on Joe Mind, but the interview with Jon Chu can be read below.  This is was a fantastic opportunity for both the podcast and this website, and we greatly appreciate Paramount, Mr. Chu, and of course Dave and Russ for getting this all together for us.  We are infinitely grateful for everyone’s participation and willingness to work with us.

GeneralsJoes Reviews the San Diego ComicCon Jinx figures!

The movie is pushed back to 2013, G.I. Joe: Renegades is long gone, and by all accounts, mass retail toy shelves are going to be barren for the next 6 – 8 months.  Deth of teh line!!1!

But wait…there is a light on the horizon in the form of the San Diego ComicCon figures (and vehicle) that should hit the West Coast shortly after JoeCon this year.  For this year’s action figure offerings, Hasbro is going back in time, and now forward in time to bring us some great representations of G.I. Joe ninja finance clerk Jinx!  We have the red version taking us back to better days of 1987…well, except for that whole Cobra La thing.  And we’ve got a white version sporting a head sculpt looking very much like Elodie Yung who represents Jinx in the film, now coming out in nine months.  The whole time continuum is collapsing!

I struggled a bit with where to put these reviews, but since the packaging is very 25th Anniversary themed, that’s where they are.  So check out my 25th Anniversary Review Page, or just hit the links below!  A big thanks to Gyre Viper from the JDSO Podcast and Jay from Carded Heroes for spreading the love a bit and letting me get these reviews out there.  Enjoy.
