Detailed information on awesome upcoming IDW Limited offerings

These days there doesn’t seem to be a huge number of highly limited collectible offerings regarding G.I. Joe, but IDW Publishing is looking to fill that hole.  Over on the Leaky Suit Brigade, they got a chance to speak directly with IDW Publishing about their upcoming IDW Limited offers, and here is the basic rundown:

“These books are made to be collectible, there is no marketing and advertising creating clutter, the focus is on the art. Each book has a vellum overlay on the title page. The Red Labels are generally limited to 275 copies, hand-numbered and signed. They are presented in a custom-designed slipcase.  While the Black and Blue Labels are generally limited to between 10 and 25 copies. Each of these is presented in a custom designed tray case and include hand-drawn, limited edition art!”

For G.I. Joe comic fans this is a great chance to get some very nice limited editions and something that will be very hard to get your hands on.

The Leaky Suit Brigade has a TON more information on IDW Limited, so head on over there to see all of the details, including some of the fantastic Herb Trimpe artwork that will be offered in select editions of the upcoming G.I. Joe offerings.

Interior page debuted of IDW’s G.I. Joe no.1 for Colorist Appreciation Day

Throughout the comic creator Twitterverse today, a hashtag for “coloristappreciationday” has been rolling along, giving some props to the unheralded folks of the comic profession, the colorists.  IDW Editor in Chief Chris Ryall got in on the action with the following Tweet:

The interior page features Roadblock and Tunnel Rat in a pitched gunfight with what appear to be Cobra WORMs??  Pretty neat.  Check out the mirrored images below, and you can also view the images on Chris Ryall’s Tumblr.

Lots of G.I. Joe awesomeness at Robert Atkins’ blog

If you’re like me and you visit IDW’s Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow artist Robert Atkins on a regular basis, you no doubt noticed that he’s been a flurry of activity this week!  He had some very interesting commission requests, and he’s been posting up pieces of his work over the past several days.

Well over the past couple of days he posted the completed images and they’re pretty incredible.  A very eclectic group of characters and some great art by Mr. Atkins as well.    This combined commission piece is over FOUR FEET wide.  Colorist on the Snake Eyes title Simon Gough as even colored the G.I. Joe half already, and I’ve mirrored both images below.

Along with this, Robert has posted a fantastic commission of Snake Eyes in his Commando uniform!  Everyone’s pretty used to seeing the Joe ninja in his visor and skin-tight spandex these days, this is a great departure.  Check out that image below.

If you’re not hitting up Robert Atkins’ blog on a regular basis, you really should be.  He’s been doing a lot of great Avengers work alongside his G.I. Joe stuff, and with him picking back up on Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow last week, you can bet more G.I. Joe content will be coming.

Check it out!

Also for folks wanting to see Robert in person, he will be attending the following conventions!  Put ’em on your calendar:
