Marvel Legends Showdown Hulk

As I said in my Wolverine review, I was pretty sure I would dig the Hulk as a figure just by how much I liked the Thing. The added bulk, great articulation, and amazing sculpting just really lends itself to these slightly larger 4-inch toys, and I like the Hulk a little bit better than the Thing, so I figured this was a can’t miss proposition.

I was right…mostly. The Hulk has absolutely amazing detail throughout the mold. Muscles upon muscles, a really tightly sculpted look of anger and rage on his face, and you can just immediately tell that this is The Hulk. However cool the figure is, though, I do have the same minor problems here that I had with The Thing, which is that I’m not a huge fan of the character. I like him more than the Fantastic Four characters, but super strong heroes like this are kind of tough for me to work with. Give me some comic book characters who are vulnerable and not stronger than any force on the planet, and I can work them into my G.I. Joe universe a little more easily. I can’t really see Hulk existing in my Joe world, because there would be absolutely nothing that could stand against him…besides, I’ve just never been real big on The Hulk. I really, REALLY hope that Toy Biz ends up expanding this line as they have planned, though, and that we might possibly see Juggernaut down the line, because that’s a potentially oversized figure I could really get behind.

Ultimately, I’m still not thrilled with the Hulk as a character, but as an action figure, this is one of the best of the line, bar none. Great job on this one, Toy Biz, and if any of these figures are worth the $7-$8, it’s probably this one.
