GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe Kre-O Mini Figures Wave 5

We’re on a Kre-O roll these days with the Terror Drome, then two waves of mini figures within the span of a month!  For fans of these little guys, it’s been a great few months here.  Yes, I am a fan of them, so I’ve been loving it, myself, even if the lack of blind bag codes has punched me in the gut a little bit.

That’s part of the reason the review was delayed a bit… it took some extra time to finagle some trading partners to fill my Kre-On roster.  Thankfully I’ve got some great G.I. Joe collector friends, though, who hooked me up good and proper!

G.I. Joe Kre-O Wave 4 hitting retail

When the fifth wave of G.I. Joe Kre-O mysteriously appeared a few weeks ago, some feared that perhaps the fourth wave might end up in some sort of Hasbro-limbo. Well, good news! A few separate reports have emerged of the fourth wave of G.I. Joe Kre-O being found at Toys “R” Us stores throughout the country.

Andrew over on the For Kre-On Out Loud Facebook Group reported finding the assortment, and even did the favor of breaking down the mini-figure layout inside! Keep in mind this breakdown only works if you find a fresh case, but it’s better than nothing, right, especially since (like Wave 5) these blind bags don’t have any codes.

Here’s what Andrew reports:

Break down is a little difficult, but here goes, left front to back, Chuckles, Budo, Alpine, Airborne, Air Adventurer, then along the side were Cobra Trooper. Right front to back, Wet suit, Tripwire, Night Viper, Cobra Nemesis, Cobra Viper and along the side Zartan.

GIJoeCD also reported in the comments section of GeneralsJoes that he found the assortment in Georgia.

Get to huntin’!

GeneralsJoes Reviews the G.I. Joe Kre-O Terror Drome!

It was the flagship Cobra headquarters of the 1980s, and has now officially made the leap from action figure to building block set!

When the G.I. Joe Kre-O line first kicked off, it was more or less repackaged from existing Battleship sets, and it really looked the part.  But throughout the past couple of years, it has evolved clearly into its own specific area of G.I. Joe fandom, and the sets have gotten more and more unique.  The Terror Drome is certainly the star on top of the tree!

G.I. Joe Kre-O Wave 4 sneaks onto eBay

After the sightings of G.I. Joe Kre-O Wave 5 in Utah last week there were some fandom concerns about the mysterious fourth wave of Kre-On mini figures, which has, as of yet, not been spotted. Well, for anyone wondering about the fate of that fourth wave, there is at least some indication that it has hit retail somewhere.

Last night an auction on eBay appeared for a complete fourth wave of G.I. Joe Kre-Ons, which was swiftly snapped up by an eagle eyed Joe fan. The auction was listed from Rhode Island, but to date has been the only confirmed sighting of the 4th wave of mini figures. Meanwhile, Wave 5 is getting relatively easy to spot on the online auction site.

So keep on hitting those Toys “R” Us stores, from the looks of it, Kre-O Wave 4 should be out there shortly, if it’s not already.

New G.I. Joe Kre-O Blind Bags found in the wild… but with a twist!

Well, actually a couple of twists. First and foremost, the finding is from a retail Toys “R” Us in Utah, and reports that they have found Blind Bag Wave 5 in stores. So, the first question is… where is Wave 4? Perhaps Wave 4 is impending as well…

But the second and more pressing issue in my mind is there appears to be a lack of blind bag codes. This was reported on some Transformers Kre-Ons a short while ago, and unfortunately the tactic has officially passed along to the G.I. Joe side as well. I’m certainly not happy about it, and this will probably result in me just picking and choosing the loose figures on eBay or some other service. I don’t have a local Toys “R” Us, so I’m certainly not going to make a special 120 mile round trip just to buy an armful of Kre-Ons and hope I get the ones I want.

I kind of understand why Hasbro is doing it, but I don’t much like it.
