Action Man’s 50th Anniversary brings big things for British hero

Most G.I. Joe collectors are intimately familiar with the fact that across the pond, our Real American Hero (and the 12″ version that came before) were introduced under a slightly different moniker.

Action Man hit the ground running over in Europe back in the 60s and is celebrating his 50th Anniversary this year in a pretty huge way.

In Loveland, Colorado today at the 2016 G.I. Joe Convention, Dave Tree, reknowned Palitoy and Hasbro UK expert (as well as the mastermind behind UK G.I. Joe & Transformers convention Roll Out Roll Call), revealed some exciting plans for Action Man throughout the rest of 2016 and into 2017.  He held a fantastic panel and has graciously allowed GeneralsJoes to display his panel slides RIGHT HERE.  This is awesome, and I’m honored that Dave is willing to let me do this, because there is some pretty exciting breaking news here.

In 2016, Action Man will be celebrating his 50th Anniversary with SIX new products, all 12″ action figures, very reminiscent of original figures from his original years of release.  Looking forward, there are TEN proposed products for 2017 in the UK as well.

Along with this, Action Man is poised to make his debut in comics with IDW Publishing, playing a large role in the upcoming Revolution story line.  Along with all of this, some pretty exciting news as Action Man will actually be launched into space!

This coming Sunday, June 19th, the Mercury 10 Action Man will be sent up to orbit as a celebration of his 50th Anniversary.  Dave Tree revealed all of this for the FIRST TIME at JoeCon today, and again, has kindly offered his slide deck to GeneralsJoes, which is mirrored below.

Regardless of whether or not your an American G.I. Joe fan or a European Action Man fan, the two brands have a ton of shared history and it’s pretty fantastic to see how Action Man’s 50th Anniversary is being celebrated.  Folks who love the vintage aesthetic and long for some new and exciting 12″ product be prepared, because some great stuff is no the horizon!

Huge thanks to Dave Tree again, and check out all of the mirrored images below.  If you like what you see here, please try and make plans to attend Roll Out Roll Call, one of the most exciting international toy conventions out there, and a sure fired source for one hell of a good time.

Full details revealed on the 1000 Toys 1:6 Scale Snake Eyes

Every day seems to bring a new nugget of news about the 1000 Toys and BAIT 12″ Snake Eyes action figure recently revealed at the Thailand Toy Expo.  Over on the 1000 Toys Facebook Page we see some great insight into the figure, including a whole storyline written for this updated version of our favorite ninja commando!

This will be our first collaboration project with BAIT, the North American premium retailer for the West Coast region.
Snake Eyes, the iconic ninja commando from the G.I. Joe series, will be the first product from G.I. Joe×TOA Heavy Industries!

=====
A project to resurrect an old-generation soldier using his DNA info has been requested to TOA Heavy Industries from the Arashikage Clan.
After a successful DNA restoration close to 80%, the soldier was then resurrected using the Synthetic Human body with the restored DNA info.
Even though the memory restoration was incomplete, the soldier became to successfully accomplish numerous covert missions on his own.

In the midst of a rescue mission for captured engineers, the soldier is ambushed by a mysterious white shadow…

I love that they’re actually building a backstory here, and it certainly seems as if Storm Shadow might be waiting in the wings as well.  I just got a lot more excited about this proposition.

First image of the rumored 1000 Toys 1:6 Scale Snake Eyes revealed

Yesterday, thanks to Chris from The Full Force, I reported on a rumor that BAIT and 1000 Toys were working on a new 1:6 scale G.I. Joe product line.  Today the first image of what appears to be Snake Eyes has been revealed!

Over at the Full Force Facebook Page, the image has been posted (and I saw it just moments before Facebook follower Rhys shared it with me as well) and honestly…I think it looks pretty awesome.  I could see how some more military themed fans might not be wild about it, but I’m loving it.

Check out the mirrored image below, and check out more info at The Full Force Facebook Page!

Is there a new 1:6 scale G.I. Joe high end collectible product in the pipeline?

First of all, props to Chris McLeod from the Full Force podcast for digging this out, but apparently we may have a new 1:6 scale G.I. Joe collectible product line on the horizon, but it’s not your typical look at the Real American Hero.

BAIT and 1000 Toys seem to be joining forces to work on a 1:6 scale designer toy line, and we may get a first look at it during the Thailand Toy Expo, which is about to kick off.

Early mention of this line apparently came nearly a month ago on the 1000 Toys Facebook Page, but perhaps nobody noticed (well, at least I didn’t!).

Just yesterday, Instagram user Tobari Yuta snapped an extreme close up and mentioned that it’s part of this line as well.

Details are soon to come from the sounds of it.  Granted, this won’t be your typical Sideshow or Hot Toys product, but it will be interesting to see what it ends up being.  It’s looking like the first figure is Snake Eyes.  Whether there are more to come remains to be seen.

Thanks again to Chris from the Full Force for passing this information along!

On the eve of G.I. Joe Club Registration – Club hits landmark numbers

Yes, I reported on Wednesday that the G.I. Joe Collectors Club would be accepting new members until the end of the day on March 16th, as they have every year.

However, they announced that this year they were expanding the deadline, and you now have until midnight TONIGHT to get your memberships in for 2016!  This will be the best way to get your hands on the 2016 incentive figures, Pythona or the 12″ Mike Power.

Apparently these two figures are in hot demand, as the Collectors Club announced today that they have reached a landmark number for memberships, their highest active member group ever.  Pretty exciting, and testament to the great looking exclusive figures that they’re giving away this year.

If you haven’t joined yet, you’ve got a small window of time, don’t lose out!  Hit up GIJoeClub.com and a hearty congrats to the Club on this great milestone.
