Hasbro to partner with fans on 3D Printing Initiative

Wow. This came out of nowhere today. Granted, we’ve heard rumbling of Hasbro’s interest in 3D printing and modeling for several months, but courtesy of the Shapeways Blog we are starting to get some fuller details about Hasbro’s future plans in that realm.

According to Shapeways, Hasbro will be officially opening up their Intellectual Property to fans who want to design products using the Shapeways 3D Printing service. While they are starting with just the My Little Pony license, I would imagine this could grow dramatically going forward, and the possibilities are simply astounding.

Imagine being able to design, print and sell a custom head sculpt through Shapeways with full Hasbro legal support? Is that really on the horizon? Hasbro and Shapeways are debuting this possible exciting new venture during San Diego ComicCon, I will certainly be paying close attention.

This new joint offering between Hasbro and Shapeways can be found currently at SuperFanArt.com and hopefully could be just the beginning of something impressive. Check out the site, and check them out at ComicCon as well.

GeneralsJoes reviews G.I. Joe: 50th Anniversary Destro and Leatherneck

It’s a big day over at GeneralsJoes Headquarters as, for the first time in well over a year, we’ve added a new review category to the menu!

That’s right, today we start reviewing the G.I. Joe: 50th Anniversary line available soon from Toys “R” Us and Big Bad Toy Store!

First and foremost, I must give full credit to Gary “Gyre Viper” Goggles who as kindly supplied advanced samples of the figures so I could get reviews posted and make sure fans had an early indication as to what expect when these items hit retail shortly.  The results… well, they’re mixed, to be honest.

Where most of the online complaints so far have focused on gold deco, there are some more pressing QC concerns, specifically with plastic quality and paint applications.  Let’s just say there’s a reason the figures are so affordable.  But there’s some good stuff here, too.  Check out my brand spanking new G.I. Joe: 50th Anniversary Review Page, or just follow the links below!
