Rachel Nichols still open for a role as Scarlett in G.I. Joe 3

One of the biggest gaps in G.I. Joe: Retaliation in many fans’ opinions was the lack of Scarlett among the main cast of characters.  I think we all know by now that the creative team was looking to “tie up” some loose ends, but among any complaints fans had about G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Rachel Nichols as Scarlett wasn’t generally among them.

Scott Neumyer spoke with Nichols on behalf of Parade Magazine about her new film Raze, but managed to sneak in some G.I. Joe questions, and as one might expect, the female star seems eager to reprise her role as the “First Lady” of G.I. Joe:

“Any chance you might be back for the third installment?

You know, that was a real heartbreak for me and I’ve always been really honest about it. They went through a regime change at Paramount between the first movie and the second movie, and you can see that with the cast and the fact that not a lot are back, but I was really heartbroken. I had a blast on that movie.”

G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu has made many references to the Scarlett character in various interviews about the possible direction of the third film, and I think tying Nichols back into the story could make for a really great arc tying the three films together.  Time will tell, but it’s exciting to see that Rachel Nichols is open to it.

Thanks to Scott Neumyer for bringing up the G.I. Joe topic.  He’s a great writer, and you can check out his work on Twitter and various online outlets throughout the web.

Oreobuilder brings the custom lumber for G.I. Joe’s 50th Anniversary

I’ve talked about Oreobuilder’s projects here before, specifically his awesome Battle Corps theme month where he tackled many of the various Battle Corps characters in one month long customization barrage that had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one to show up.

Well, now, appropriately, he is celebrating 2014 with a new month long custom event, this time the G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary!

Already 7 figures into it, you can check out his thread over on JoeCustoms.com and see new figures emerging on a regular basis.  He’s already tackled many awesome classic figures, and he shows off the original 12″ versions, too, if only to prove how great an accurate modern 4″ line based off the old school 12″ stuff could be.  I know lots of folks have wished for a modern Adventure Team, but Oreobuilder is showing that some of these tribute figures would work in the old military aesthetic, too.

Really impressive stuff.  Keep watching JoeCustoms.com for each new entry.  I’ve mirrored just a couple of images below.

Now as cool as the album is, WordBurglar has taken it a monumental step forward, producing a fantastic music video for the title track from “Welcome to Cobra Island”.  It’s posted up on YouTube…and man, you’ll just have to trust me and watch it for yourself.  Check it out embedded below.
