It’s the THIRTY DAY mark! Thirty days until G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Reason #30!

That’s right, G.I. Joe fans.  Thirty short days until G.I. Joe: Retaliation launches its attack on theaters across the United States.  This very exciting landmark is again emphasized by Twitziller’s next Reason Why G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be Great.  And you can see this reason below.

#30:

You can’t see it, but I’m giving ole Twitziller a slow golf clap right now.  Very good reason to look forward to G.I. Joe: Retaliation, for sure.  Yes, G.I. Joe has always had elements of fantasy in it, and in some cases, very strong elements of fantasy.  But the beauty of G.I. Joe has always been how well those fantastic elements blend into more real world situations.  One place where many folks felt like G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra fell down was scenes like the Paris Pursuit scene where wildly unrealistic (and somewhat visually unconvincing) Accelerator Suits tore through the streets of the European city.  That, to many folks, put the film way over the science-fiction edge, not just from a technology standpoint, but also because the obvious CGI really drew people out of their immersion in the film.

Director Jon Chu has stated several times that he wanted G.I. Joe: Retaliation to feel grittier and more realistic.  He wants viewers to see the dirt and feel the punches.  This is all done best with practical effects accentuating the real life action on screen, and not replacing the actors too obviously.  Certainly there will still be a healthy sample of computerized effects.  These days in an action film there almost has to be.  But from what we’ve seen of the trailers and footage so far, and from what Chu has said, when possible, the effects will be more practical and real world.  I welcome it.

GeneralsJoes Reviews the G.I. Joe: Retaliation Ninja Combat Cruiser

We’re still in vehicle mode at the review desk here at GeneralsJoes, but we’ve gone up in scale!  Graduating from the Bravo level Tread Ripper tank from yesterday, today we jump into the Delta class with the Ninja Combat Cruiser!  Or if you choose to burn all of the Arashikage symbols instead of applying them, I suppose it could just be the “Combat Cruiser”.

As the days count down, reason #31 that G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be great

Pushing on, closer and closer to March 29th, and Twitziller continues his own brand of countdown!  The next reason to look forward to G.I. Joe: Retaliation has been Tweeted!

#31:

It may sound funny, but there’s something about a rappelling assault that I really love.  The adrenaline rush in any military TV show or movie as the special operations troops come flying down their ziplines, unhooking their weapons and preparing to kick ass is unmatched.  I love that whole atmosphere.  Obviously most of the G.I. Joe: Retaliation “zipline” play features are built around the high altitude ninja mountain combat sequence, but speaking as someone who just got the Tactical Ninja 3-Pack with Agent Mouse, this concept is pretty neat as well.  Who didn’t love swinging their action figures by strings as a kid?!  I know I did.  Pretty cool to see director Jon Chu still playing with that mindset, just on a larger stage.

GeneralsJoes reviews G.I. Joe: Retaliation Tread Ripper Tank w/ Clutch

So over the past 2 weeks I’ve been maintaining my “one review a day” grind as we work down the “Road to Retaliation”!  Well, after yesterday, I kind of had an issue.  I’d posted reviews of every single pack G.I. Joe: Retaliation figure released to date!

Have no fear…  now we have vehicles!  I’ll be covering the Tread Ripper today and the Ninja Combat Cruiser tomorrow, and then dipping back into the figures as we examine the Wave 2 3-Packs!  Plenty of material still left on the table.  Check out the latest review on my G.I. Joe: Retaliation Review Page, or the direct link below.

What’s on Joe Mind Special Edition #25 – Ladies Night Part 2!

Having missed the first edition of Ladies Night, I’ll be honest…I wasn’t sure what to expect with Ladie’s Night Part 2.  Even with Chuck chickening out having a family issue to deal with the show was an absolute blast.  The ladies rocked it out.

No real show notes this time around, just hit up Podbean for the latest episode, or check out the embedded players below!

By popular demand, it’s back!  It’s Ladies Night II!!  The WOJM crew assemble a panel of female collectors and wives of collectors to talk to us about their collecting, relationships AND answer your questions that you’ve sent in.  Rejoining us again in 2013 is Gary’s wife Debbie and Mo from Moderately Geeky.  New to the panel is the co-host of the Open Your Toys Cast, Mrs. McFavorite and the owner of our sponsor, Kokomo Toys, Amber.  This was one of our most popular episodes of 2012 and included the infamous Chuck meltdown that you voted on as your most favorite Chuck Moment of 2012.  If you missed it or never heard it, you need to hear it here first!   There isn’t much Joe discussed here and because of the nature of the program and how we know each other, there are a lot of inside and running jokes.  Bear with us, because the info contained herein is some good stuff.  It’s the one night we sort of relax and let the show be about the ladies and lots of fun.  There is no Chuck this year, but we have some flavor in the second half with our own Herb and spices added.  So suck in that gut gentlemen, comb your hair and tuck in your shirt because the ladies are joining us tonight!
