G.I. Joe Collectors Club pulls the curtain back on FSS Quarrel

Following up with the awesome carded mock up of Big Boa, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has posted a great article about Quarrel, slated to be an installment in the Figure Subscription Service.

There are some terrific close up pictures as well as a nicely detailed write up over at GIJoeClub.com.

Check it out!

Great article, but it makes me want an updated Hunter even more.  Imagine a PoC Cobra Trooper with Officer web gear done up as the SAS trooper?  That would be pretty awesome…

Season 5 of Star Wars: Clone Wars footage pays homage to G.I.Joe

I haven’t talked about because well, it’s Star Wars, but  down in Florida right now the latest Star Wars Celebration is going on.  This is pretty much the year’s biggest Star Wars event, and they have debuted some great footage from Clone Wars Season 5 over on IGN.com.

Throughout the footage, a key character named Embo appears, with his trusty animal sidekick.  There is apparently some significant acrobatics, and the bounty hunter Embo has a pretty unique friendship with this animal.  Embo is also notoriously… silent.

If this whole dynamic seems familiar, it should.  According to Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni, Embo and his compatriot were clearly modeled after G.I. Joe ninja Snake Eyes and Timber.  IGN says the following in regards to the homage:

“After the clip was over, Filoni talked about how the quiet and deadly Embo and his fearsome and loyal pet were, “My homage to Snake Eyes and Timber.” As a kid, Filoni was a big G.I. Joe fan and recalls how cool he thought Snake-Eyes was, exclaiming, “He’s a ninja and he’s got a wolf!? Are you kidding me!?”

A pretty cool tip of the hat.  Thanks to Dan Uthman on Twitter for the heads up, and check out IGN.com for the full details, including  The trailer for Clone Wars Season 5, which contains a brief snippet of the footage described above.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals carded mock up of Big Boa

Throughout my years as a G.I. Joe collector, I’ve always been an opener.  I rarely keep anything MOC, and much prefer to open my toys for display purposes.  But man, seeing the carded mock up of Big Boa…I can’t lie.  That’s some cool looking stuff.

Over on the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Facebook page, they’ve revealed a mock up image of what Big Boa might possibly look like in carded form, and it’s pretty awesome.  Take a look at the mirrored image below, and keep up to date with the latest FSS info on GIJoeClub.com and Facebook.

Rejoice! A new G.I. Joe dio-story emerges on the ‘net

Judging from all of the comments and requests I get, it seems like G.I. Joe fans are still very big fans of the dio-story concept.  While my own time is too short at the moment still to produce one of these bad boys, that hasn’t stopped friend of GeneralsJoes Nas from doing his own thing.

Over on Gigamach Productions, Nas has produced a new Dio-Story that is showing some serious promise.  He was kind enough to send me a printed copy he made up for ComicCon, but he’s got it all hosted online as well, and it’s definitely worth checking out.

Click on over to Gigamach Productions and take a peek.  I can’t wait to see more.
