Another update from Fun Publications on recent security issues

In what is becoming an almost daily occurrence, Brian Savage from Fun Publications has sent out another notification email to members of both the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club and the Transformers Collectors’ Club, strongly encouraging everyone to not only cancel your credit cards, but also consider changing any common usernames or passwords you were using on their website or forums.

I cannot stress enough the importance of following this advice.  The full text of the email is below.

As we continue to work on our systems, you will see some of our services go offline and then come back, so please be patient as we preserve data and clone servers and websites.

We are also taking this opportunity to remove all non-essential services from our ecomerce server. So in the short term in the next day or so, the club forums will be discontinued. It will be several days until we are ready to bring them back under an entierly new piece of software. I know alot of you have been asking for this so, we have decided to replace several of our systems with new packages. This means that you will not have access to the forum for a while at all. We do plan to make the old forum viewable (no posts) in the future.

Since we do not know exactly what data was taken, we are recommending that if your have used common logins or passwords with our system and any other system that your change your passwords in those systems immidiately (especially any financial sysstems)! We will be resetting all of the passwords in our system very soon. Please don’t delay in changing your passwords in other locations

In addition, we have found a few recent aticles concerning security issues with other vendors. If you use these services, these issues could possibly impact you. Please read the attached links:

Thanks for your support in this difficult time. We will continue to work with our vendors to correct the issues and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused any of our members.

GeneralsJoes Reviews IDW’s G.I. Joe: RAH Annual for 2012

The idea of a “Yearbook” or “Annual” seems like almost a thing of the past, especially in the G.I. Joe world, and I was excited to hear that IDW was reviving the concept for the Real American Hero title.  Many of those old school yearbooks were some of the coolest stories going on in the Marvel days.

IDW really dives head long into the whole vintage concept here as well, as they comb the historical archives and pull out some really great art talents to bring this story to life.

The end results?  Well, you’re just going to have to click the Read the Rest of this Story link below for the full details.

Another G.I. Joe: Retaliation review addendum…

So, just wanted to pass this word along.

Over at HissTank.com, the site owner and admin DESTRO is saying that he has “official word” from Hasbro that the 3-Pack Roadblock will not come with those permanently attached weapons keys, and this is very likely a pre-production mishap.

It’s something I figured was true, and I tried to emphasize that in my review as well, but if this eases a few more minds, it’s another post worth making.  Check out the thread on HissTank right here.

While the fans have a strong desire to see product early, these things come up when dealing with pre-production items…  so keep your mind open.

GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe: Retaliation Prequel #2

I’m dying to be immersed into the G.I. Joe: Retaliation universe, so I’m psyched that IDW is releasing these issues every couple of weeks.  The first issue left me a bit…I don’t know.  Cold?  It was fine, but I wasn’t wild about the whole “several years ago” angle, and the red ninja attack seemed frenetic and unfocused.

Well, my opinion has changed a bit with this second issue, and things are starting to come together quite nicely.  The continued cameos by Rise of Cobra era characters and equipment ties both film universes together nicely and is a great Easter egg to us fans.  A pretty solid second installment which has made me look forward to seeing more.  To read the full review click the “Read the Rest of this Entry” link below.

Support JoeCanuck Comic Artist Jason Loo!

Fans of the Canadian G.I. Joe Convention no doubt are very familiar with Jason Loo’s work.  He’s done the artwork for the Canadian JoeCon comics as well as the actual character art for filecards, etc..  he’s a critical piece of the Canadian JoeCon puzzle, and after hanging out with him a lot during JoeCon in Orlando in 2004, I can say he’s a great guy as well.

He is currently involved in a contest, which isn’t G.I. Joe related, but it is Star Wars related to celebrate the “May the 4th Be With You” celebration in Toronto.

Jason is using his considerable art talents to design a poster for this event, and he needs our help to get it approved.

If you have a Facebook account and a few spare seconds, please consider “Liking” his poster.  He’s currently in third place and is trying to make a push towards victory, and this would be a great way for us to show our support and thanks to him for all of his efforts and hard work with the Canadian JoeCon comic.

So, please consider hitting up this link and clicking “Like”.  It would mean a lot to Jason, and the poster is pretty bad ass to boot.
