G.I. Joe Q & A Sessions begin again!

Just in from Hasbro Public Relations…  the G.I. Joe Q & A Sessions will be resuming effective immediately!

The next round of questions will be due next Monday by noon, so start getting those brain cells firing.  In the past GeneralsJoes and JoeSightings have worked together to get a single 5-pack of questions answered, but starting in 2009, GeneralsJoes and JoeSightings will be able to submit separate entries to maximize the Joe fan’s “bang for your buck”.  Of course, this year it looks like the pool of questions has been reduced to “3” per outlet, but I think we still have the best opportunity to get our questions answered by splitting the coverage.

Please use the Comments in this thread to submit your questions, and I’ll pick and choose and we’ll try to uncover whatever info nuggets we can find.

Huge thanks to Hasbro for commiting to this very fan-friendly project for 2009!

EDIT – Just in case anyone didn’t notice above, the question limit for 2009 has been reduced to THREE per outlet.  Just something to keep in mind.

GamePro’s April Issue heavily features G.I. Joe: Rise of COBRA game

cover_thumbThe word from  GamePro.com is that their April, 2o09 issue will feature a G.I. Joe devoted cover (click the image to the left to enlarge) and lots of in depth coverage (including exclusive screen shots) for the upcoming Next Gen G.I. Joe: Rise of COBRA video game.

I’ve supplied a gallery of the images in the story below, credit to GamePro.com and henry.gomez of HissTank.com for the story.

Also, make sure to check out my previous article about the upcoming video game for a ton of details about the gameplay, characters, and lots of little tidbits about the game as we get even closer to a Rise of COBRA extravaganza leading up to the film’s release August 7th.

The game is slated to be released July 27th, 2009, and if you want to read all of my articles in regards to the game, check on the Video Game category.

Another item of note (courtesy of a comment from ggpike) is the GamePro site mentions the following tidbit:

“Huge details about G.I. Joe the video game (which picks up after the events of the upcoming film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) are revealed for the first time including an in-depth look at playable characters, gameplay details, as well as information on the new G.I. Joe graphic novel and animated show.”

So it looks like we may be hearing something about Resolute in this new issue of GamePro as well.  Thanks to George for the heads up!

G.I. Joe Extreme – Terrible toys, but not all bad

150px-gij_extremeI think it’s fairly well publicized that I’m a G.I. Joe fan who has found elements to like about pretty much every iteration of the brand since 1982.  I love A Real American Hero, I loved the collectors reissues since 1998, I enjoyed the new sculpt era, Sigma 6 rocked my world, and I’ve been pretty happy with the Anniversary stuff as well.  Where my interest wanes is in those middle years, with Sgt. Savage and G.I. Joe Extreme.  Those were such departures from the articulation and design style that we’d gotten used to over the years, I just couldn’t overcome the differences and pretty much wrote them out of my mind.  Sgt. Savage has remained out of my mind, and from a toy perspective, G.I. Joe Extreme has been the worst that Hasbro has produced for the brand since it first arrived.  However, the G.I. Joe Extreme universe itself has plenty of merits, and if you spend enough time on YouTube, you’ll find some nice hidden gems in the episodes and you’ll find a story that’s actually decent, especially for a toy-based cartoon.
